How long this one takes.

Build class is about time and piece count, not difficulty. Every kit uses the same techniques and the same instruction style. A Chief kit is not harder than a Firefighter kit, it is just a longer evening.

About the real apparatus

The rig behind the model.

This build is a bit special as it will be a fundraiser / donation build! In collaboration with R5 Rolling Memorial on Instagram, who is owned by the Carl Vincent Bini Memorial fund. This build will have all of its profits from Kits and Rebrickable made through December 31st donated to the fund with proof on January 1st 2027. After that this build will become free on Rebrickable for instructions, sticker files and the parts list.

Now onto the description! This is the HME Rescue 5 based in Staten Island that responded to the WTC on 9/11, tragically losing 11 out of its 12 crew. Normally operating with 6 crew, it responded with 12 because the attacks happened during a morning shift change. It is one of 5 HME Rescues the department operated at the time, Rescue 4 sustained little damage while Rescue 3 and 5 had to be repaired before entering service again, 1 and 2 were completely destroyed. It has 5 rollup compartments in the back, a SCBA bottle holder area, and another storage area with maroon webbing.

Not much else to say except that this is also my first Rescue and Heavy Rescue, somehow. Anyway, thank you to the R5 Memorial team for helping this project! Lets try and raise a few hundred for a good cause this 25th anniversary.
